Luego de conocer que es el Cuy, ahora quiero contarles la historia de la multiplicación de los cuyes producto de la instalación de un teléfono Publico, En Enero de 2005 yo era presidente de Regulatel, Foro Latino Americano de Entes Reguladores, y tuvimos una reunión de corresponsales en Lima. Como es costumbre en estos eventos yo quise hacerles una atención a mis invitados y en lugar de llevarlos a almorzar a algún buen restaurante en Lima donde puedan degustar la excelente gastronomía Peruana, les propuse salir al área rural y a manera de visitar algunos teléfono Rurales instalados por el Fondo de Inversiones en Telecomunicaciones (FITEL).
De esta manera se tendría la oportunidad de visitar algunas bodegas productoras de Pisco en el valle del Cañete y acabar comiendo Camarones en un Restaurante Rustico de Pacaran cerca de 200 Km. de Lima.
Llegamos a un poblado llamado El Porvenir la Encañada en la entrada al valle del Cañete donde estaba instalado el teléfono +51-1-8100199 en una tienda de propiedad de la Señora Ricardina Nolazco.
De esta manera se tendría la oportunidad de visitar algunas bodegas productoras de Pisco en el valle del Cañete y acabar comiendo Camarones en un Restaurante Rustico de Pacaran cerca de 200 Km. de Lima.

Allí vimos el teléfono, lo probamos y el grupo quiso sacarse una foto que es la que se muestra arriba.
A alguno de los huéspedes se le ocurrió preguntar donde estaba la antena y le pedimos a la señora nos permita verlo, muy atenta nos invito a pasar al patio de la tienda y grande fue nuestra sorpresa al encontrar una granja de cuyes en medio del cual con mucha dificultad se divisaba el VSAT instalado.
Pues encontramos que la antena se encontraba en medio de 2000 cuyes.
La reflexión que luego hicimos fue, “la empresa que instalado el teléfono, habrá sido tan irresponsable de instalar el VSAT en medio a una granja de Cuyes ?” o es que los cuyes vinieron después.
Preguntamos a la Señora Ricardina y ella nos contó que el año 2003 cuando instalaron el teléfono tenia en un rincón al fondo del patio unos 200 cuyes. Gracias a la llegada del teléfono y la posibilidad de comunicarse ha podido incrementar el número de cuyes, pues la demanda se ha ido incrementando continuamente. Los restaurantes de Lima algunos supermercados e incluso exportadores hoy día la llaman para hacer sus pedidos.
En Agosto del año 2006 volvimos a visitar la granja y fue grande nuestra sorpresa cuando encontramos que su número se había duplicado, ahora tenían ya 4000 cuyes e incluso encontramos ya una camioneta en la puerta que era usada para llevar los alimentos a los animales
Nuestra reflexión ahora es, si esta granja ha podido crecer 20 veces en 3 años debido a la llegada de las telecomunicaciones, en forma de Teléfonos Públicos, cuanto podría hacerlo de contar con conexión al Internet?
Ese es un nuevo reto y seria muy interesante ver el efecto que tendría el Internet más el teléfono para seguir desarrollando este pequeño emprendimiento.
